Hi,
Remember that explorer.exe is the core part of Windows, so anything running at the time will make explorer.exe do things at the time.
Things to check are:
- Get Ad-aware and do a spy-ware check, often they take up CPU time without you knowing it
- Are you running ANY download programs like BitTorrent while playing? Just what basic Windows programs are you using, even the most basic ones can use explorer.exe time.
- How much RAM do you have on your system? If its 512MB, that should be fine, but 1GB is recommended these days.
- Make sure that your Windows Page Files are setup correctly to refect the amount of RAM you have. If you go to Goggle and search for Configuring/Tweaking Windows pagefile, you find out how to do this safely.
When I play games, only the game and TeamSpeak or Vent is only ever running, everything else including the Virus Scanner is turned off, till I'm done. My Firewall keeps my PC safe and as long as you don't have spyware or download random applications viruses won't be an issue.
